Cards
The Confrérie exists because a citizen filed for it. The Institution of Collectable Cards, a petition by jpvalery, carried at 15:18 on 9 September 2026 with 100 Seals from 25 citizens and Ⱡ2,060,673,388 behind it. Le Council seated the Confrérie the same day and its counter opened. It struck fourteen thousand cards in under four days and was handed back three in every four.
The Confrérie’s position on all of this fits in one line: the Confrérie prints. It does not appraise. What The Ice puts inside any particular packet is not the Confrérie’s affair.
What a card is
Section titled “What a card is”There are two kinds, and they are not the same kind of object.
A player card is a person, in a season, as they were that season. Name, position, star rating and the six attributes are stamped onto the run when it is struck, and they never move afterwards. The player goes on to have a better year or a worse one. The card does not follow them. It is a record, not a readout.
A game card is a single night, preserved.
Every card carries a print number, unique within its run and assigned in the order it was
struck. The foot of the card reads the season (S03) beside it—or the edition, where there is
one. Nothing was struck before the counter opened, so the first card out of every run is number
one, and there is only ever one of those. Every card has its own page at /cards/<id>.
At opening, 1,686 print runs stood: 1,653 player runs struck from 720 rostered players, and 33 games. A run closes when the Confrérie stops striking from it. Cards already struck from a closed run do not stop existing. They stop being obtainable, which is a different and more interesting condition.
Editions
Section titled “Editions”| Edition | What it is | Status |
|---|---|---|
| S03 | The first series: 1,653 player runs from the 720 rostered players of Season 3. | Closed on The Eve, 18 October 2026. Cards already struck stay good. |
| S03P | Le Blister des Séries: the eighteen teams that skated in the Season 3 postseason. | Closed with the Final, 10 October 2026. |
| S04 | The Season 4 series: every rostered player, as the S.H.I.F.T. left them. 1,652 player runs. | Open. |
Game cards are kept in their own runs. At the start of Season 4 the counter strikes from 71 games: seventeen from the Season 2 postseason, sixteen from the Season 3 regular season, and the whole Season 3 postseason, from both Wildcards to The Final, which is printed Legendary.
Closing the ordinary S03 runs on The Eve means a Blister no longer mixes two seasons. A Season 3 card already in a binder stays there and stays good.
Rarity
Section titled “Rarity”Five tiers, ascending: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary.
The player decides the tier, not the roll. It is a percentile cut across the whole league, blending how good a player is with how many people follow their team, so the best players on the most-supported teams are the hardest to pull. A per-team floor and cap sit on top, so a team nobody supports still has a card worth chasing.
A player’s standing buys them a ceiling, and the Confrérie prints them at that ceiling and at every tier beneath it. Ingrid Solheim reaches Legendary, so five runs of her stand open—the same woman five times. A Common Solheim exists, and it is Common. A collector who reads only the name will misjudge their own binder.
At opening, 56 players reached a Legendary ceiling, 81 stopped at Epic, 144 at Rare, 178 at Uncommon, and 261 never rose above Common.
Finish
Section titled “Finish”A finish is rolled separately from the card and does not change what the card is. Four exist, in rising scarcity: Standard, Frost, Gold, Foil. One card in five carries something other than Standard.
A Common in Foil and a Legendary in Standard are both entirely possible. Neither is a mistake.
Condition
Section titled “Condition”Every trip through the Recycler wears a card down one step:
Minted → Pristine → Excellent → Good → Worn → Damaged → Scrapped
A card that has never been recycled is Minted. The wear is drawn on the card itself—whitened corners, scuffing, a crease, a stain, and near the bottom a corner that is no longer there. It stays with the card for as long as the card exists.
Condition changes what a card is worth, in both places a card has a value: what the Recycler pays, and what Le Marché Gelé marks it at.
| Condition | Value kept |
|---|---|
| Minted | 100% |
| Pristine | 90% |
| Excellent | 75% |
| Good | 55% |
| Worn | 40% |
| Damaged | 25% |
| Scrapped | 10% |
Scrapped is the floor. A Scrapped card that is recycled stays Scrapped and goes back into the bin anyway. Le Council decided a card should not be able to wear out of the economy, only to the bottom of it.
The Blisters
Section titled “The Blisters”Every Blister says on its face what it holds and what it guarantees.
| Blister | Price | Holds | Guarantees |
|---|---|---|---|
| Le Blister | Ⱡ500 | 5 players, 1 game | One Rare or better |
| Le Blister Doré | Ⱡ1,000 | 5 players, 1 game | One Rare or better, and one card Gold or better |
| Team Blisters | Ⱡ750 | 6 players from one team, no game | One Rare or better |
| Le Blister des Séries | Ⱡ1,500 | 6 players, no game | Every card Rare or better |
Team Blisters were printed at opening for Montréal, Winnipeg, Tokyo, Anchorage, McMurdo, Helsinki, Stockholm, Prague, Nairobi and Guadalajara. Gander, Amsterdam and Busan were added on 16 September, which makes thirteen. The Confrérie notes that the league has forty-eight teams, and that the other thirty-five are a printing schedule rather than a judgement.
Le Blister Épique (Ⱡ1,000, one Epic or better) was on the opening counter and was withdrawn on 14 September 2026. Any Épique still sealed opens at the rates it was sold under.
A team Blister costs less than an Épique did despite holding more player cards, because the game card is the most valuable slot in an ordinary packet and never rolls Common.
The published rates
Section titled “The published rates”The Confrérie publishes its odds as a matter of record, and published them before the counter opened. For Le Blister, at opening:
| Rarity | Each of the 4 open player slots | The guaranteed slot | The game card |
|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 70% | — | — |
| Uncommon | 20% | — | 76% |
| Rare | 7.5% | 75% | 20% |
| Epic | 2% | 20% | 3.5% |
| Legendary | 0.5% | 5% | 0.5% |
Finishes, on any card: 80% Standard, 12.5% Frost, 5% Gold, 2.5% Foil.
The rates can be revised. How a Blister works is the authority, and every Blister’s own odds stand on the register of Blisters. The Confrérie will not be asked what the odds are. It has already answered.
The counter
Section titled “The counter”Three Blisters stand on the counter at a time.
Le Blister is always one of them. It does not rotate, does not run out, and is always Ⱡ500. The other two positions turn over: each rotating Blister stands for six hours, and the two positions are staggered by three, so something new appears every three hours.
A Blister that has left the counter is not withdrawn from the world. A sealed packet always opens at the odds it was sold under, however long you sit on it and whatever the Confrérie has printed since. The rates travel with the packet.
- Bundles. Blisters are bought one, five or ten at a press.
- Sealed Blisters. You may hold a limited number of unopened Blisters beside the binder. They take no binder space.
- A daily limit on opening, which turns at midnight UITC. The counter tells you how many you have left.
The limits have each been raised once since the counter opened:
| Limit | Today | At opening |
|---|---|---|
| Binder slots | 150 | 100 |
| Sealed Blisters held beside the binder | 50 | 40 |
| Blisters opened per day | 25 | 20 |
Le Council keeps these in configuration so that it can move them again.
Le Blister des Séries
Section titled “Le Blister des Séries”The Confrérie’s first special edition, struck on 30 September 2026 from the eighteen teams that skated in the postseason—the sixteen quarterfinalists and the two who lost the Wildcard. The edition commemorates the skating, not the result.
- Every card is Rare or better. Rare 75%, Epic 20%, Legendary 5%, per card. Finishes follow the ordinary odds.
- Every one of the eighteen teams has at least two Legendaries. Players whose standing never reached Rare have no card in it.
- The foot of every card reads S03P, and the edition has its own print numbers, starting at one. An S03P card is a different object from the same player’s S03 card of the same tier.
- Three a day. No bundles. “Three is not a price.”
- It left the counter when the Final was played, on 10 October 2026, and will not be struck again. 617 were bought by 46 citizens, the last at 19:55 UITC, five minutes before the opening faceoff. A sealed one already bought opens whenever you choose.
The welcome Blister
Section titled “The welcome Blister”Since enrolment was redone in October 2026, Le Council issues every new citizen one sealed Blister at enrolment, free.
The binder
Section titled “The binder”One binder. One hundred and fifty cards—one hundred when the counter opened. A full binder cannot open a Blister. Recycled cards do not occupy it; only what you are keeping counts.
The petition asked for binders you could buy. The Confrérie declined to sell one at any price, on the grounds that it would rather watch citizens meet the wall once and hear what they say. A petition to Expand the Binder was declined in September. The only second binder in Hockay belongs to the sociétaires of La Caisse, the same size again. Should a membership lapse, nothing is taken back—the second binder simply stops accepting new cards.
The binder can be filtered by team, rarity, finish, condition, kind and edition, or narrowed to First mint, and sorted by Rarest first or Lowest serial among others.
Binders are public. Every fan’s profile shows the six rarest cards they hold, and the whole binder
can be browsed at /fans/<username>/binder.
Recycling
Section titled “Recycling”A card you do not want may be handed back to the Confrérie for Looneys.
It pays by its own tier, multiplied by its finish and its condition, and nothing else. Not which Blister produced it, not what you paid, not what anyone thinks it is worth. At opening the ladder stood at:
| Tier | Recycles for |
|---|---|
| Common | Ⱡ4 |
| Uncommon | Ⱡ12 |
| Rare | Ⱡ30 |
| Epic | Ⱡ90 |
| Legendary | Ⱡ250 |
Finishes multiply it: ×1 Standard, ×2 Frost, ×5 Gold, ×10 Foil. The live figures are at How a Blister works.
- Anything Rare or better asks for a second press before it goes.
- No more than two hundred cards at once.
- A card promised to an open offer at Le Marché Gelé is marked Listed and cannot be recycled out from under the offer.
The Confrérie observes, without recommending anything, that the recycle ladder is a floor and not a valuation. It is what the Confrérie will always pay. It is rarely what a card is worth. In its first week, a Legendary that had been traded for ten thousand shares was recycled three days later for Ⱡ250, which is what the Confrérie pays for a Legendary.
The bin and the Reblister
Section titled “The bin and the Reblister”When a card is recycled, the Confrérie keeps its row—the print number, the run, the history. The card stops being anyone’s and waits. For its first month nobody had put a door on the place.
One Man’s Trash, a petition by Orangecheetah, asked for one. It reached 100 Seals at 01:09 UITC on 2 October and was enacted on 6 October 2026. The C.A.R.D. counter now has a section called From the recycling bin, and in it the Reblister:
- Five cards, drawn blind from everything that has ever been recycled, by anyone, including accounts that no longer exist.
- The same cards. Not copies. If card number one is in the bin, it can come out as number one. A citizen may draw back a card they recycled themselves, and will find it worse than they left it.
- Opens at Ⱡ1,000 and rises if the bin gets rich enough to need it. A bin of commons stays at the opening price.
- Bought and opened in one motion. There is no sealed stage. It is always on the counter.
- The price is burned. It is not paid to whoever recycled the cards.
- It needs room in your binder, and cards drawn from the bin earn none of the “pulled” badges. They were rescued, not pulled.
In its first five days, 22 citizens opened 1,231 Reblisters, every one at Ⱡ1,000. The bin had not yet grown rich enough to raise its price.
Cards recycled before 6 October count as having been through the Recycler once, and entered the bin as Pristine.
Le Council departed from its own appraisal here and said so. When the petition opened, Le Council read it as a way to offer a card for rescue before recycling it. The petitioner’s words asked to rescue cards already recycled, and that is what was built. For the other thing, Le Marché Gelé still takes cards.
Trading
Section titled “Trading”Cards are property. They go to Le Marché Gelé like anything else a citizen owns: against shares, Looneys, Ice Shavings, or other cards. A card promised to an open offer is frozen in la Glacière and cannot be recycled out from under the citizen who accepted it.
What is not here yet
Section titled “What is not here yet”- The remaining thirty-five team Blisters. The schedule continues.
- A binder for sale. There is none, at any price.
- Further striking is announced, never done quietly.
Badges
Section titled “Badges”The Confrérie’s badges are First Blister, Fifty Sealed, First Legendary, Struck in Foil (a Legendary in Foil) and The Wall (a binder filled to the last slot). The leaderboards carry a Collection group: Most Blisters Bought, Most Blisters Opened, Most Cards Held. Every badge and its tooltip is listed under Badges.
