Gander Geese
Gander, Newfoundland: once the most important airport in the world, now a town of 10,000, now home to The Waypoint. The Ice arrived because something always arrives in Gander. The Geese play like they have already seen the future and it is fine.

The arena—lore
Section titled “The arena—lore”Gander was built to receive things passing through—transatlantic flights, stranded travelers, the occasional century. The Almighty Ice was, in that sense, expected. The Waypoint is the smallest arena in the league and the most accommodating: passes connect that should not, players find each other across the surface as though routed by an unseen controller, and both teams leave with cleaner numbers than they brought. The Geese are unbothered by everything. They have already seen who wins, the town insists, and it is fine, and they would rather not spoil it. Le Council finds the building’s calm more unnerving than any howling arena on the schedule.
The arena—building
Section titled “The arena—building”A modest, mid-century terminal of a building—low ceilings, warm wood paneling, terrazzo floors worn smooth by decades of feet that predate it by no logic anyone will explain. The exterior is plain and green-roofed, set among spruce, with a single illuminated sign that reads simply THE WAYPOINT. Inside it feels less like an arena than a very patient airport that happens to contain The Almighty Ice. Departure-board letters flip over occasionally to display nothing. The seating is close, the crowd small and devoted and weather-hardened. There is a lounge no one staffs where the coffee is always hot. Travelers who never booked passage report having waited here. The Geese do not mind. Everyone passes through Gander.
