Cyprus Chimeras

An island claimed by multiple worlds. The Almighty Ice didn’t choose sides. The Chimeras are assembled from impossible parts and play like it. No two games feel the same.

  • City: Nicosia, Cyprus
  • Arena: The Divided Grounds
  • Capacity: 8,700
  • Colors: #D4852A / #4B6FA8
  • Conference: La Conférence du Givre
  • Joined: Season 3 expansion

Before each game, the Chimeras are randomly assigned another arena’s modifier. It is never the same one twice in a row. Le Council has stopped trying to track this.

See all arena modifiers for cross-comparison.

The Divided Grounds present Le Council with a documentation problem. Under the Hybrid designation, the Chimeras are assigned, before each game, a modifier belonging to another arena—never the same one twice in succession, never announced in advance. The ice is of the givre form, though the assessment team notes it was reluctant to commit even to that, on the grounds that at The Divided Grounds commitment tends not to survive the next fixture. An island claimed by more than one world was given a team assembled from more than one team. Le Council has stopped attempting to maintain a current record of what the Chimeras are. No two games at The Divided Grounds are the same game, and the Chimeras prefer it that way, insofar as the Chimeras can be said to prefer anything twice.

Two halves that do not match. The eastern side is limestone and arcaded, the western side is poured concrete and glass, and they meet along a seam that runs the full height of the building and through the middle of the roof, where the two rooflines arrive at different pitches and are joined by a flashing detail the facilities office has described as provisional for eleven months. The 8,700 seats are of two kinds. The concourse is at two levels that connect by ramp at one end only. The Almighty Ice is centered on the seam. Signage is bilingual and, in four documented instances, disagrees with itself. The assessment team’s site plan of the building has been superseded three times, each time by the assessment team, and each time the previous plan was found to have been correct on the date it was drawn.
