Anchorage Auroras
The Almighty Ice was already here. It just formalized things. The northern lights interfere with the arena in ways the league pretends not to notice.

The new mark
Section titled “The new mark”On 22 August 2026 the team’s majority owner of record, FlargBarg, used the mark-change privilege that majority ownership carries on the Exchange. The name did not change. The crest did: the old mark over the tunnel at The Watch Station was retired, and a simpler one replaced it, in aurora green and night-sky violet. Le Council published the owner’s statement with the filing:
“We were inspired by a lot of teams having a medium green similar to the Auroras—especially the São Paulo Serpents—the vibrant green of auroras, the deep violet of the night sky, and the two-colors-plus-white scheme that’s most typical across the league.
We wanted to keep the recognizable elements from the previous Auroras logo: the overall shape, the mountain, the aurora sky, and the stars, while moving to an overall simpler logo that reads well even at small sizes.
We thank the Phuket Podcasters for being trailblazers in redesign.”
The building, its capacity, and Flicker are unchanged. Games already on the record keep the crest that was true when they were played.
Arena modifier—Flicker
Section titled “Arena modifier—Flicker”Random stat fluctuations hit both teams throughout the game. Nobody is consistent here.

The arena—lore
Section titled “The arena—lore”The Watch Station was a decommissioned early-warning radar facility before The Almighty Ice arrived. Now it’s a hockey arena. The conversion was never documented. The radar equipment is gone but the building’s original purpose—watching the sky—seems to persist. The aurora borealis interferes with the arena’s systems in ways that Le Council’s technicians describe as ‘not electrical exactly.’ Stats fluctuate. Instruments disagree with each other. A shot that should have gone wide curves in. A save that was clean somehow wasn’t. The Flicker affects both teams equally, which Le Council considers fair. The Auroras consider it home.
The arena—building
Section titled “The arena—building”A repurposed military structure—angular, utilitarian, metal-clad. The exterior is corrugated steel painted a faded green that’s slowly being eaten by rust and frost. A decommissioned radar dome sits on the roof, no longer spinning but not entirely still either. The main entrance is through what was once a vehicle bay, now fitted with glass doors that fog constantly. Inside, the seating is retrofitted—stadium chairs bolted to concrete platforms that weren’t originally designed for spectators. The ceiling is high and industrial, crisscrossed with catwalks and ductwork. Banks of fluorescent lights supplement the natural light that streams in through skylights, but the light quality shifts unpredictably. Sometimes green. Sometimes purple. The Watch Station is functional, not beautiful. It doesn’t need to be. The sky is the show.
