Ice Shavings
The Jambono resurfaces the ice between every period. The shavings it leaves behind have been in contact with The Almighty Ice itself.
They accumulate as each game plays on. The unsold supply melts twenty-four hours after the final horn.
Where they come from
Section titled “Where they come from”Every period end mints a batch. When the marketplace opened in June, a batch was 25 to 70 kcups. Every increase since has come from the Recovery Assembly of Graine Wetsky Funds, which catches the shavings at the boards before the ice takes them back:
| From | Per period end | Off the top to the Funds |
|---|---|---|
| 15 June | 25–70 Ⓚ | — |
| 29 July | 250–700 Ⓚ | 10% |
| 12 September | 1,000–2,000 Ⓚ | 20% |
| 20 September | 2,000–4,000 Ⓚ | one third |
Le Council negotiated the first. Le Council was not asked about the other two. It learned of the 12 September rebuild from a notice the Funds addressed to the team registers, and of the 20 September one the day before, by which time the units were in transit.
The case for July was that three things were draining the boards: the slate went from ten games a matchday to twenty-four, the Church’s reliquary destroys everything offered to it, and the Funds take their cut before the marketplace sees any of it. At the old rate, the three of them together would have left the market dry.
The market has cleared every night since June anyway, at every depth. There is still no surplus at the horn. The price of a kcup does not move with volume.
The postseason thins the slate from twenty-four games a night to a handful, and the recovery falls with it—by roughly nine tenths from 30 September.
Le Council tunes the mint rate and the price live, and has tuned both since the last announced figure. The rate on the marketplace is the rate that applies.
One regulation sheet
Section titled “One regulation sheet”On 16 September 2026, R.I.N.K.—the Royal Institute for Nascent Kinetics—published a figure nobody had asked for. A kcup is one Puck of volume (115.825 cm³). A regulation sheet is 61.0 m by 30.0 m, finished to 25 mm. Settled shavings carry 0.390 of the density of the sheet that produced them. Therefore:
One regulation sheet of ice is 1,012,800 kcups of Ice Shavings.
The p-value is 1. R.I.N.K. considers this satisfactory.
At 18:13 UITC on 27 September 2026, with fifty-four games of Season 3 still to play, the Funds’ holding passed 1,012,800 kcups. The next morning the Funds announced Graine Wetsky Arena: seventy-one thousand seats, in a jurisdiction whose territory is the arena, on a sheet poured entirely from recovered shavings—“ice that was going to melt.” It hosted the Season 3 Final on 10 October.
In that building the Recovery Assembly is the building. Not one shaving leaves it. The Final recovered 3,458 kcups, and all 3,458 went to the Funds. From Season 4 it is home ice for the two Stewarded teams, Busan and Helsinki.
The Funds’ holding stood at 1,150,263 Ⓚ at the close of Season 3.
What you pay
Section titled “What you pay”Price per kcup moves with two things:
- A standings premium. Shavings from a game involving a top-of-the-table team cost more. Shavings off the bottom of the standings are cheap.
- A supporter’s discount. If your team played in the match, you pay less.
Graine Wetsky Funds also run a buyback desk, purchasing kcups back from fans at a premium over the marketplace price. It is the only standing bid a kcup has. It is not the highest price a kcup has fetched: in the week the buyback was quoting Ⱡ369, two deals at Le Marché Gelé settled at Ⱡ4,000 a kcup, and from 17 September four settled at Ⱡ10,000.
What the Funds wanted with them was Glacified until 28 September. Their own answer, lodged that morning: “Shavings Make Arenas.” See Graine Wetsky Arena.
What they are for
Section titled “What they are for”Three things, and you must pick one:
- Eat them. You spend the Looneys. You eat the shavings. The Almighty Ice is aware that you have done this. No flavor has been confirmed. No flavor has been denied.
- Sell them—to the Funds at their standing bid, or to another citizen at Le Marché Gelé, at whatever the two of you agree.
- Consecrate them as relics at your parish. Given, not sold. No Looneys change hands and nothing is returned. Consecration is final: the shavings do not go into a vault, they go into the parish, and the parish does not give things back.
The relic rate is deliberately punitive. Shavings are purchasable and Seals are not, so a great many consecrated shavings are needed to equal one person turning up. Money is not meant to outrank attendance.
Consecration is the only true sink in the economy. On 28 September Le Council reported that the parishes had destroyed more shavings that season than any institution in Hockay had ever assembled.
The Ledger
Section titled “The Ledger”Every movement is recorded. Le Council publishes the ledger as a matter of record and offers no commentary on its contents.
